Socket your 5.9×5.9mm, 0.5mm pitch QFN packages on ATE board with performance equivalent to direct solder version

Ironwood Electronics has recently introduced a new QFN socket design using high performance elastomer capable of 60+ GHz, very low inductance for ATE applications. The GTP-QFN-1001 socket is designed for 5.9×5.9 mm package size and operates at bandwidths up to 60+ GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. The contact resistance is typically 20 milliohms per pin. The socket is mounted on the target PCB with no soldering, and uses very small real estate allowing capacitors/resistors to be placed close by. This socket utilizes swivel lid for initial setup. Once the test program is verified, lid is removed along with the protruded screws. Then, handler accomplishes inserting devices into the socket 500K+ times.

The GTP-QFN-1001 socket is constructed with high performance and low inductance elastomer contactor with protective layer. Protective layer prevents elastomer from contamination and solder migration. Since the cleaning of protective layer is very simple, equipment downtime is reduced significantly. The temperature range is -55°C to +160°C. Works with IC’s such as QFN40, 5.9×5.9mm with 10 leads per side with center ground pad and 0.5mm pitch.
